Problem While Installing Updates

Security Center informs and reminds you that updates are available, but when you check, you see the following error:

2.McAfee cannot update your software product. Please check your Internet connection. If the problem continues, please contact Our Technical Support.

Proxy Server Settings Incorrect. McAfee Updates are available. The update will be started in the background. It may take 10 minutes to complete. To verify the update are done, run MVT again after some time. Real-time scanning is off. Note: You can see a pop-up window appear while MVT resolves the error. Please, do not close this window; it will close automatically after completion.

Solutions to Fix McAfee Antivirus Plus Error while Installing Updates

Run McAfee Virtual Technician (MVT).

1.Go to and click on McAfee Virtual Technician on the left side of screen.

2.Click on the Next to begin the download.

3.When you are prompted to begin the download, click on Run, then click on Run once

4.Finally, click on I Agree to allow MVT to scan your computer.

If MVT does not resolve the error for you, or you do not want to install MVT on your system, use one of the following solution.

Solution 1

3.Make sure that you do not run a .REG file that is not confirmed to be a genuine registry import file.

Register files manually in the Windows registry

1.Open the Windows registry as an Administrator:

Windows 7 or Vista users

1.Click the on Windows and type cmd in the search box.

2.In the results, right-click on CMD, and select the Run as Administrator option.

3.Now, click on Continue or Yes in the User Account Control window.

Windows XP users
1.Log in to your system with the Administrator account.

2.Type the given commands in turn and hit on ENTER after each one:

cd program files
cd mcafee
cd msc
cd mcsubmgr
dir /b

1.Look at the value returned from the previous command and use the cd command to change to that directory. For example, If the value returned is 11,0,669,0, type cd 11,0,669,0 and hit on enter.

2.Type the given command and hit on ENTER: regsvr32 /u mcsubmgr.dll

3.Click on OK.

4.Type the given command and hit on ENTER: regsvr32 mcsubmgr.dll

5.Click on OK.

6.Then, close the command prompt window.

7.Finally, Right-click the M icon in your taskbar and click on the Check for updates.

Solution 2

Copy and paste the registry command

1.Click on Start and select the Run option. Windows Vista and 7 users should click the Windows orb, then click on the search.

2.After that copy and paste the given command, then hit on ENTER: Regsvr32 /u C:\Progra~1\McAfee\MSC\mcsubmgr\11,0,669,0\mcsubmgr.dll 

3.Copy and paste the given command, then hit on ENTER:

Regsvr32 C:\Progra~1\McAfee\MSC\mcsubmgr\11,0,669,0\mcsubmgr.dll 

4.After that right-click the V-lock icon in your taskbar and click on Check for updates.
