Steps to easily Fix McAfee Antivirus Update Error
Download and run the McAfee Virtual Technician
1.To download the McAfee Virtual Technician, enter https://us.mcafee.com/root/mvtapp.exe
2.If you get a "File download security warning", click on Yes.
3.Click on ‘Open to launch McAfee Virtual Technician’.
Note: On some browsers, you must click on Run.
4.In many cases, you may be prevented from restarting your system because an installation is in progress. Please remember to restart your system after the installation is finish.
Use this solution only if the Solution 1 did not solve the error with your McAfee Consumer product software.
Download and run the McAfee Removal tool
1.To download the removal tool, click on tohttps://us.mcafee.com/root/MCPR2.exe
2.If you receive a security alert, click on Yes.
3.Click on Save to download the file to a location on your system.
4.Search to the location where the file was saved.
5.Make sure that all McAfee application windows are closed.
6.Double-click on exe to run the removal tool.
Note: Windows Vista users must right-click and select to Run as Administrator.
7.Finally, restart your system when prompted. Because, your McAfee products will not be fully removed until you restart.

MSN users must click on to https://membercenter.msn.com/features.aspx?pa=MC_ART_Antivirus and log in to download your software.
AOL users must click on to http://safety.aol.com and log in to download your software.
